As promised, Trump supports Obama's EO protecting LGBT citizens

So numerous times on this forum, especially immediately after November 9th. I argued against countless people saying Trump will not take any rights away regarding LGBT. I received tough resistance. Well, Trump will continue to protect the LGBT community. This is just one of many sources to read from.

I also said he will do nothing against abortion rights, again, I faced tough criticism. I am here to say again, regardless of who he appoints to the SCOTUS, Roe v Wade will remain in effect, and abortion rights will not be taken away.

I was right about him winning the primary and was laughed at, I was right about not underestimating him, I was right about him beating Hillary, and I was right about him not harming the LGBT community. Needless to say, I'm not as dumb as many of you might think when it comes to political philosophy and what is happening in the country.

So I will make another prediction, which I basically just did, abortion rights will not be changed.

I'm assuming this thread will get locked again, but hopefully it gives you faith that maybe your basic rights and liberties wont be destroyed by the Fascist in the White House?

I'm not sure what you mean by "Fascist in the White House." There's a God in the white house right now, and his name is Donald Jehovah Trump.

In an effort to not get a warning, I've never disagreed with you PP. I think you're fairly educated, and you provide a lot of good facts. I didn't think that Trump would do much about LGBT rights or abortion laws either, but there are more pressing matters to attend to. Not that gay people and abortions aren't sometimes important, but you know what I mean.

Are you being facetious?

Forgive me if I'm a little hesitant to believe that nothing will change. That little thing ya can see on Trump's shoulder, whispering into his ear? It's Mr. Pence.

"I am the bone of my sword."

It's funny how in the past several days/weeks, Trump has been heavily criticized for actions by the people in the USA, be it in or outside of the Government itself. Trump throughout his campaigns have either been critical of Gay Marriage or purposely vague on his thoughts for it. With a constant note of overturning Obama's previous Executive Orders, people were rightfully afraid of what would happen.

I'd love to think maybe Trump finally grew a soul, but its hard for me and a lot of people to imagine that Trump did this out of good will. It really seems like pressure of how much his current actions have been negatively viewed. I guess it doesn't matter though, whether it was done intentionally or due to pressure, the fact that we can still keep these rights is for the best.

Do you really believe Mike Pence has any influence over Trump?

I believe Bannon has his ear and that Bannon is a white supremacist. Not sure about Pence, but it wouldn't surprise me since he seems to have the Bush/Cheney thing going on.

This is actually my personal belief on why he picked him over Newt. I think Newt would have been more active in stating his policies and beliefs and standing up to Trump. You can tell when Trump and Pence are on stage together Pence just seems to open up in a servitude manner.

Pence also has experience as a Governor as well as connections in congress, but long enough ago that he wouldn't be considered part of the establishment. He could also help with some of the Rust Belt. I think Trump picked Pence more out of exterior reasons that would be beneficial to getting him elected, instead of someone who will have much policy decision making. I don't think Pence is for a wall and I don't think Pence agrees on a lot of issues that Trump does. He's more of an ultra-conservative to help balance out the ticket.

In my opinion... I could be completely wrong of course but that's how I see it. Either way, I sincerely doubt he has any influence whatsoever over Trump

I would point out that Trump's action with tbe LGBT community is mostly centered on those employed by the government correct? It is still too early to say a repeal attempt of gay marriage isn't in the works.

Trump himself isn't the problem, it's the republican congress. When they had majorities before, they couldn't pass any legislation that might affect LGBT rights because they knew Obama wouldn't sign it. But they have Trump in now. I don't think trump really cares one way or another about it but I don't see him rejecting a bill if it reaches his desk. I never really expected him to repeal this order but either way I'm glad it's staying. Kinda sad it's needed though.

As for abortion, that becomes under threat due to his SCOTUS nominees. The more liberal justices are older so if Trump gets to pick a couple more, all of a sudden there's reason to be nervous. Also while I'm here I want to say the partisan nature of Supreme Court nominations is ridiculous, kinda makes a mockery of the courts nutrality.

I still think it's too early to tell. I think we should give it at least 100 days before praising him for things like this. He might still go back on his promise.

This is his main area to appeal to the progressive types. I wouldn't expect it to change. (Remember he's already campaigning for the next election.)

It is? I don't remember him having a strong stand on anything LGBT. I only remember him saying on one occasion that he wants to protect them.

He also sent ripples throughout the community when he chose Pence as his running mate.

You guys are putting way too much stock into what Trump and his team say. They also said that he had the biggest inauguration crowd, an 'alternative fact', so I can't see how you can take him seriously here.
